Projects
As a Research Assistant at Walter Schottky Institut, Technical University Munich, I contribute to cutting-edge research efforts at the interface of solid-state physics, photonics and materials science. keywords: laser, photonics, cleanroom, WSI, TUM READ MORE
Master Thesis, completed at Walter Schottky Institute, TUM. By means of numerical simulations, I have shown – for the first time – that via an effect called spin-orbit coupling of light, circularly polarized light generated in a nanowire laser can be coupled unidirectionally into a silicon waveguide. keywords: numerical simulation, laser, silicon waveguide, spin-orbit coupling READ MORE
Numerical simulation of a simplified dipole antenna. The solution – complex antenna current – is obtained by setting up and solving a system of equations with the Method of Moments. Furthermore, we compute far-field patterns and 3D electromagnetic fields are computed in the time domain. keywords: numerical electromagnetics, dipole antenna, Method of Moments, EM field
During my CERN Summer Student research stay within the Solid State Detectors Lab, I further developed TRACS – a fast open-source simulator of transient currents in irradiated silicon particle detectors, in C++. keywords: CERN, particle detector, FEM, C++ READ MORE
Chua’s circuit is the simplest electronic circuit exhibiting chaotic behavior. By employing SPICE simulations, I explored the system’s sensitivity to initial conditions, the chaotic output signals and its potential use as a random number generator. keywords: Chua’s circuit, chaos, random number generator, SPICE
By employing numerical simulations of charge transport in crystalline silicon solar cells, I studied the effects of different top contact configurations on the solar cell’s performance and compared the simulation results and efficiency of an in-house developed simulator with commercial software. The results were presented at an international conference. keywords: electrical numerical simulations, solar cell, COMSOL Multiphysics, ASPIN3
A real-time embedded-system in the shape of an RC Car: commands sent via Bluetooth from a self-developed Android app to a microcontroller, H-bridge controlled DC motors with variable speed and ultrasonic sensors for automatic obstacle detection and braking. keywords: embedded systems, real-time, Android, C, Bluetooth
A project developed with two classmates, which won 3rd prize at the IEEE/Cosylab competition: our anti-theft system for bicycles, consisting of a microcontroller centered around several sensor and actuator systems, has advanced features such as distance communication and control, a robust electromechanical locking system, GPS sensor for localization, a dedicated Android app and a sound alarm. keywords: embedded systems, IEEE, Cosylab, security system, Android, anti-theft
During my summer work at a high-tech company Sistemi IN ES, I developed a system for communication between an Android device and the main computer of a prototype electric car “Chebela” via Bluetooth (the electric car was partly developed at Sistemi IN ES d.o.o.). keywords: Android, Java, microcontrollers, C, Bluetooth, electric car
During the Astronomy Camp, we spent nights observing stars and galaxies with professional telescopes and watched the Perseid meteor shower. My project was building and launching a model rocket and calculating its trajectory. keywords: rocket, astronomy, telescope, galaxy, meteor shower
